Itinerary for Baviaanskloof Adventure
Day 1 – Zandvlakte Lodge
We all meet at the Ripple Hill Hotel in Patensie at 08:00 for coffee and a briefing. From Patensie, we ride into the Baviaans through Kondoma Gate, over Bergplaas, and, after about 70 km, arrive at Zandvlakte Lodge.
The lodge is spectacular, and Piet, our host, will prepare a traditional braai with plenty of cold beers, etc. We provide a backup vehicle that carries all your clothes, spare bike, and fuel.
Day 2 – The Climb
This is mostly the reverse route that we did on Day 1 as we exit the Baviaanskloof. The climb out of Bergplaas is probably the most difficult, but if you stay on the concrete strips, all will be fine. If all goes well, we arrive back at the Ripple Hotel for lunch, where we can shower before heading home.
